BluegreenISDN Calls for CSO Unity at Akwa Ibom State Civil Society Summit

Bluegreen Initiative for Sustainable Development Network (BluegreenISDN) has underscored the need for stronger collaboration among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Akwa Ibom, as it joined key stakeholders at the Akwa Ibom State Civil Society Summit (AKSCS). The event, part of the Akwa Ibom State Guild of Community Development Advocates (AKGCODA)’s 2025 Civil Society Week, ran under the theme “Building Solidarity for Peace, Accountability, Human Rights, and Development”, spotlighting CSOs’ critical role in driving accountable governance ¹.

Speaking on the sidelines, Ediongsenyene Ndunobong, Executive Director of BluegreenISDN, praised the summit as “timely and a welcome development,” stressing that unity is now imperative. “The development space thrives on consortiums, without networking and collaboration, we risk being left behind,” he warned, while judging an essay competition aimed at nurturing young civic leaders.

Ndunobong also condemned police attempts to intimidate CSO leaders, notably the interim chairperson, Mr. Tijah Akpan, arguing such actions undermine collective progress: “Even the police benefit from our work; we must resist distractions and focus on accountability.”

For BluegreenISDN, focused on environmental sustainability and climate justice, the summit was a networking milestone. “We leveraged this platform to connect with like-minded organizations, paving the way for strategic partnerships to amplify our impact,” Ndunobong noted. The organization now plans joint initiatives on green livelihoods and youth empowerment, advocating for the summit’s annual institutionalization to sustain dialogue.

Consequently, BluegreenISDN will pursue collaborative projects, prioritizing climate resilience and youth inclusion, positioning Akwa Ibom as a hub for green, inclusive development.
