BluegreenISDN Executive Director Advocates Climate Action on XL106.9 FM for 2026 World Environment Day

As part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day, the Executive Director of Bluegreen Initiative for Sustainable Development Network (BluegreenISDN), Mr. Ediongsenyene Ndunobong, featured as a live studio guest on XL106.9 FM to shed light on the importance of environmental responsibility and urgent climate action.

During the broadcast, Mr. Ndunobong emphasized that World Environment Day should not be treated as a symbolic observance, but rather as a critical reminder of the need for sustained action to protect and preserve the environment.

He highlighted the growing climate change impacts affecting communities across Akwa Ibom State, noting that rising environmental challenges are already threatening livelihoods, ecosystems, and coastal settlements. According to him, the effects are becoming increasingly visible in vulnerable communities that depend heavily on natural resources.

The Executive Director further called for responsible environmental practices among residents, encouraging individuals and households to adopt sustainable lifestyles that reduce ecological degradation and promote conservation.

He also made a strong appeal to government authorities at all levels to intensify efforts in environmental protection and ecosystem management. He stressed that effective climate action requires coordinated policies, enforcement, and investment in sustainable development strategies.

Describing Akwa Ibom as a coastal state highly exposed to climate risks such as flooding, erosion, and sea-level rise, Mr. Ndunobong underscored that the time for action is now. He warned that delaying intervention could worsen the environmental and socio-economic impacts already being experienced in many communities.

BluegreenISDN reaffirmed its commitment to advancing climate awareness, environmental education, and community-driven sustainability initiatives aimed at building resilience and promoting a greener future for all.
