Uyo Stands United Against Gender-Based Violence

Bluegreen Initiative for Sustainable Development Network joined the Male Feminist Network December 6th, 2025, to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) in the state, launching a road show as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The campaign, held in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Justice, featured talks and awareness drives aimed at enlightening citizens on the ills of GBV.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ediongsenyene Ndunobong, Executive Director of Bluegreen Initiative for Sustainable Development Network, emphasized the need for collective action to eradicate GBV, stating, “A society that protects its women and girls is a society that knows where its true strength lies – in the empowerment of all, not the oppression of some.”

The event drew participants from diverse backgrounds, all united in their quest for a GBV-free society. The campaign featured placards, street performances, and interactive sessions, all aimed at raising awareness on the need to protect women and girls from violence.

The initiative is part of efforts to promote gender equality and empower women and girls in Akwa Ibom State. The event ended with a call to action, urging citizens to join the fight against GBV and work towards a more just and equitable society.
