BlueGreenISD Embarked On School Tree Planting Campaign; Established Climate Green Club

December 14th, 2022 will be etched in the memories of students and staffers of Lott Carey Baptist Academy, Ikot Ebom Itam, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, as the team from BlueGreen Initiative for Sustainable Development (BlueGreenISD) embarked on a tree planting campaign and also established a Green Climate Club in the school.

The campaign which was tagged; Planting Trees to Safe the Earth’s Lungs, saw the BlueGreenISD team led by the Executive Director, Mr Ediongsenyene Ndunobong after consulting with the school administration donate and plant fruit trees in the school premises.

Receiving the team, the proprietor of the academy Dr K. C. Ebong, expressed their gratitude to the team for picking their school among the pilot schools to establish the Green Climate Club, emphasizing the significance of climate education to students, especially those at the pre-tertiary level.  With excitement, he promised to cater for the trees while anticipating future engagements with the youth-led organization.

To foster a sense of responsibility to care for the trees, each tree was assigned to a person to own (as a matter of responsibility), beginning with the school proprietor to the students.

Fruit trees, in consultation with the school management, were carefully selected for this campaign, to promote environmental sustainability and at the same time serve as a source of food to the school community.
