Project Summary

The Green School Club (GSC) is an initiative by BlueGreenISDN aimed at fostering environmental consciousness among young students. Through structured programs and hands-on activities, GSC will educate and engage students on key sustainability topics, empowering them to become future environmental stewards. The project will be implemented across schools in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, with plans for expansion.

Project Location

The Green School Club (GSC) is being established across various schools in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, starting with select pilot schools. The long-term vision is to expand across all 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state and beyond.

Project Objectives

  1. Enhance Climate Education – Equip students with knowledge of climate change, its impact, and actionable solutions.
  2. Promote Circular Economy Awareness – Teach students sustainable production and consumption practices.
  3. Encourage Proper Waste Management – Introduce waste reduction, segregation, and recycling practices.
  4. Foster Agroecology Practices – Promote sustainable agriculture and organic farming techniques in schools.
  5. Improve Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Awareness – Instill healthy hygiene and sanitation habits among students.
  6. Implement Green Projects – Encourage students to take part in tree planting, eco-friendly initiatives, and conservation efforts.

Project Activities

  1. School-Based Environmental Workshops – Interactive sessions on climate change, waste management, and sustainability.
  2. Tree Planting and Eco-Gardens – Students will plant and nurture trees and organic gardens within school premises.
  3. Waste Recycling Competitions – Engaging students in creative ways to upcycle and manage waste materials.
  4. Clean-Up Campaigns – Organizing community and school clean-ups to promote a litter-free environment.
  5. WASH Advocacy and Training – Educating students on proper hygiene and sanitation practices.
  6. Climate Action Clubs – Forming student-led clubs to implement sustainability initiatives in schools.
